Hello, SMF Members! Our Liturgical Committee is doing an awesome job of organizing and planning events every month. We know it's overwhelming to join a committee, and so we are asking each member to consider helping with just one monthly event. If you go to the homepage you can scroll down through the upcoming events - all of the planned liturgical events for this fiscal year are there. Please consider which month you could attend the one planning meeting, and then help with setting up the event the day of. We currently have 56 active families, so there is no reason why we can't have plenty of help with these events. :) In the past there was a requirement of each member to be assigned to a committee. We would rather not have that, but it is work to put on events, and having the membership working together is what we're all about! Both of our Liturgical Committee heads are having babies soon, so help is even more necessary than usual. :) So, please take a look at the events and then reach out to Annamarie and Tracy at their email: smfliturgicalcommittee@protonmail.com, to let them know how you can help. The specific dates and times are also listed on our calendar. Just click on the day and you'll have the details. Many thanks and blessings! The SMF Board of Directors

Hello, everyone! Most of you know this website is newish to us - created just under two years ago. I wrote a post last year with information about managing profiles, posts, etc., but as I've learned more this year I feel the need to update you. I will pin this to the top of the forum page for future reference. One of the most important things about our website is the forum. If you are wanting to receive email notifications for things posted to this forum, you will not only need to add that in your profile settings, you will need to actually choose to follow the forum on the main forum page. To do this simply put your email in the box that says "Join our mailing list" at the top of the forum page, and click on "Subscribe." If you consistently do not open your emails from this website, Wix (our website host) will eventually assume you no longer wish to receive emails and will stop sending them to you, regardless of whether or not you have subscribed. I have spent hours on the phone with Wix trying to figure out how to get people who are no longer receiving emails to receive them again. Sometimes resubscribing works, sometimes it doesn't. The answer may be to delete your account and reapply - if you feel the need to do this let us know. To avoid this, simply open your emails occasionally. :) Also, please check through your promotions and junk mail to be sure emails aren't going there. People have been frustrated about not getting email notifications for the comments people leave on various posts. Even if you "follow" someone on their profile, it doesn't mean you'll receive notifications. If you are subscribed to the forum page, you should receive an email for each original post. When you log in to the site to view that post, you must choose to follow that post if you want to receive email updates for all of the comments. (Also, commenting on the post automatically means you are following it.) If you are the original poster you will receive email notifications for all comments. If you reply directly to someone's comment on the post by tagging only their name, the tagged person is the only one who will receive a notification. And please remember, although it is an *extra* step, at any time you can simply log on to the website and check the forum - no need to receive an email to have all the information available to you. :) In order for everyone to be able to see who all the members are, you MUST create a public profile! PLEASE do this. Creating a profile is the only way for the members to see who is here. Also, in the comments section of your profile, please add your address. It's protected information, only available to site members, and it is extremely helpful for graduations/weddings/showers/birthday parties, etc. Also, play scripts are mailed out for drama camp every spring, and it's ever so much easier if your address is readily available on the site. It's also handy if your phone number is on there. :) Also, please note the tab that says "SMF Documents" at the top of the page. If you click on that page you will find the SMF Bylaws, as well as all of the board minutes since 2020. We try and post the board minutes within a few weeks of the last meeting, but sometimes it takes a bit longer, depending on the season. We appreciate your patience! :) This is all I have for now. Other than to say - will you please like this post if you receive an email notification for it? That will help me sort out who is maybe not receiving emails, and not regularly checking the site - then I can contact them separately to get it all sorted out. Respond here with questions, or email the board at: smfofficemail@gmail.com Thank you, and God bless! Barbara, SMF President

Hi, everyone! This is a reminder that the SMF picnic will be at the Frank Olson south picnic shelter on Sunday, August 28th, at 5:30pm. SMF will provide plates, napkins, and plasticware, but it is otherwise a full-on potluck. :) This is a great chance for the new families to meet people, and you can also pay your membership dues that evening. We hope to see you there! The SMF Board of Directors

Dear SMF Members, It is time to pay the yearly SMF dues of $35. Dues must be paid after the fiscal year begins on July 1st to be applicable for the current year. This year, however, we’ll accept dues paid from June 15th onward. According to the bylaws members have until October 1st to pay dues. If dues are not paid by then you will be removed from the website. Everyone participating in co-op must be a member of SMF, and therefore your dues MUST be paid by Friday, September 9th, 2022, in order to participate in the 2022-2023 co-op year. You can bring your separate dues check to the first day of co-op. Dues can also be paid online through our website – on the home page you can click on the “Pay Member Dues” button and choose either credit card or PayPal. A nominal fee is added to these because Wix (our website host) and PayPal charge a fee. If you would rather send a check to the SMF Treasurer you may do so. Please make checks out to SMF, and mail them to Katie Sanchez at: 221 E First Ave, Lennox, SD, 57039. In the past SMF members have signed an acknowledgement of reading our bylaws. This has fallen by the wayside, but the Board is now asking all members to sign this. Even if you remember signing when you joined SMF, there is not a complete record, so please sign this again. It is available to sign electronically, and I’m attaching the link here. This will only need to be signed once, unless there is a change to the bylaws, in which case everyone would have to sign again. https://forms.wix.com/ba563f00-b1b0-42d4-8246-2808818ce04d:84238045-d639-463d-953e-d069cda2d12b Also, last year the Board wrote a Student Code of Conduct. We are asking the membership to read through this with your children, and sign the electronic copy attached here. Members of co-op were asked to read and sign this last spring, but it is applicable to any event we hold in a rented building. Because of this, we’re asking all members with children ages K-12 to sign it for the current year. https://forms.wix.com/ba563f00-b1b0-42d4-8246-2808818ce04d:ca1fbf3e-dc64-495c-8804-1fd637c0207c Please reach out to us with any questions! Thank you for your membership! The SMF Board of Directors

Dear SMF Members, The Board of Directors would like to clarify for the membership what it means to be an SMF-sponsored event in regard to our insurance. Our insurance policy is directly related to building use, when the owners of a building want us to have our own insurance so they cannot be held liable should someone be injured on their property during our event. Approval of an event only needs to be sought by the board if you are going to use a diocesan church building (or another building that would like us to be insured). The more buildings added to our insurance as “additional insured”, the more money we pay. As of right now we can use the St. Joseph Cathedral School and the Risen Savior facility in Brandon. Besides the Education and Liturgical Committees, we don’t currently have other defined committees. If there is an event you would like to host and need to use a building (and therefore our insurance), but it doesn’t fall under the category of one of our established committees, simply email the SMF board at: smfofficemail@gmail.com, and explain your idea. If the board approves it, you can ask other members if they would like to assist, and once you are ready you can officially apply through the website using the Activity Approval form. Once the activity is approved the Board will post your event through the Board account to show that it is indeed an SMF-sponsored event, and we will add it to the website calendar. Any member can host an SMF-members-only event in their home or elsewhere, without it being an SMF-sponsored event. Examples of this would be a moms’ brunch, dads’ night, teen night, the girls’ Endow group we had, etc. In these cases you might send the invitation out to only our community via the forum, but it’s not an official SMF-sponsored event. You do not need the board’s permission for this type of activity. Any event for only SMF members can be added to our website calendar at your request. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us via the email listed above. We do hope to have more committees formed, but all in due time. Blessings! The SMF Board of Directors

SMF families are invited to sign up for a St. Valentine’s Day card exchange. When & Where: 9:30am on February 14th in the Cathedral Gym. What to Expect: We take a moment to reflect on the admirable virtues of St. Valentine, from whom this card giving tradition came. Then of course we will exchange cards to enjoy. What to Bring: Each child needs to bring enough valentine cards to give one to everyone in his/her age group. We ask that you have the child write who the card is from not who it is to. (This will simplify the making and passing out of the cards.) Each child also needs to bring a separate box or container for receiving cards. *Please be sure to have your child’s name on his or her box* Moms are also invited to participate with cards and boxes if desired. **IMPORTANT** Each family must rsvp via the sign up genius link provided in order to participate. Please note the deadline is February 10th. We must have an accurate count for families to know how many valentines to make/buy. The sign up includes a break down of 3 age groups for kids to be signed up under. This will give children the opportunity to make cards for friends without the burden of making enough for everyone who attends. https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10c0f48adae29a7fec34-stvalentines

SAVE THE DATE! Keep in the back of your mind.... Monday, February 14th - 9:30 am Family Valentines Day Party in the Cathedral Gym REMINDER! Sign up and start practicing.... Sunday, January 30th - 6-8pm St. John Bosco Talent Show https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48adae29a7fec34-stjohn ANNOUNCEMENT! Plan to attend if you can.... Thursday, January 6th - 7pm Liturgical Committee Meeting Jakos Home 4608 S Woodwind Lane Sioux Falls, SD 57103 We are very thankful for the opportunity to celebrate seasons and saints with St. Margaret’s Fellowship. It was so good to see so many people at our last event. Hopefully these events will foster or strengthen relationships and create some fond memories. At the same time, we hope events sponsored by the Liturgical Committee will help us enter more fully into the current season of the Church and/or turn our attention towards examples of inspiring heroic virtue. As the Liturgical Committee is just getting some momentum, we are asking SMF members for more involvement behind the scenes of such events. Coming to the meeting would be a great way to find out more about how you can help. Attending the meeting also gives you the chance to have your ideas heard and gives us the opportunity to bounce our ideas off more members. We look forward to hearing from you. Have a blessed and fruitful Advent and a Merry Christmas The Liturgical Committee
