The SMF Liturgical Committee is requesting artists (SMF kids or adults) to submit coloring pages to add to our Traveling Mary Crate. These pages would be "black and white" and exhibit an opportunity for various ages to color the art drawn. These pages could be Mother Mary, Apostles, Saints, the Holy Altar, Churches, and so forth but must be Catholic-specific and fairly recognizable. It does not have to be perfect! Just something that comes from your heart. 😊 Please include your name or some kind of artist's label. These pages would be free for the SMF community to use for our Mary crate and your art would be photocopied/printed. All art must be able to easily fill a standard printer paper (8.5 by 11). Submissions for these coloring pages must be received to smfliturgicalcommittee@protonmail.com. We ask that you please scan your art. If you can't scan it, please do your best to find a clear alternative. 1 or 2 different pages of art Include your name/artist's label on the page(s) Fills a standard printer paper (8.5" by 11") Any questions can be placed in the comments, sent to smfliturgicalcommittee@protonmail.com, or personally message Annamarie Jakos or Tracy Myers.

St. Michael the Archangel, we honor you as a powerful protector of the Church and guardian of our souls. Inspire us with your humility, courage and strength that we may reject sin and perfect our love for our Heavenly Father. In your strength and humility, slay the evil and pride in our hearts so that nothing will keep us from God. St. Michael the Archangel, pray that we may have the faith to truly entrust our lives to the loving care of our Heavenly Father. St. Michael the Archangel, you are the prince of angels but in your humility, you recognized that God is God and you are but His servant. Unlike Satan, you were not overcome with pride but were steadfast in humility. Pray that we will have this same humility. It is in the spirit of that humility that we ask for your intercession for our petitions…[state your petitions]. Pray the St. Michael the Archangel prayer Prepare yourself for First Saturday this upcoming Saturday, October 1st (it also happens to be St. Therese's saint day). St. Lambert's Church has Mass at 8:30am each Saturday.

Our liturgical event is this Thursday evening at St. Lambert’s from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We will be praying in front of Eucharistic Adoration. This is a family hour so complete silence is not expected. We will meet afterwards at the playground for some wiggle time. Take some time to talk to your kids and prepare them for the hour or half hour that you will be there. We will be remembering St. Clare of Assisi and her connection to the Eucharist. Here is a coloring page to share with your kids and a podcast that you can listen to together! https://www.saintsalivepodcast.com/episodes We look forward to praying with you on Thursday!

August is a beautiful month with so many saints to ask for intercession with prayers. There are several big days in our Liturgical Calendar that draw us into the beauty of the Church too. August 4 - St. John Marie Vianney He is the patron saint for priests! In the past I have said a novena to St. John Marie and asking him to protect certain priests in my life. Typically the novena begins prior to the feast day but a novena can be said at anytime! Curé of Ars Catholic Church :: Novena to St. John Vianney :: Leawood, KS August 5 - First Friday and Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major - My Catholic Life! August 6 - The Transfiguration This would be a great day to do a Lectio Divina with your older kids. Take the Gospel reading and read it out loud three times. Each time, ask the kids to place themselves in that moment and focus on a word or phrase that really speaks to them. After the reading, pause, allowing the kids to pray through that moment. You could also do this exercise yourself! Lectio Divina: A Beginner's Guide - Busted Halo https://www.ncregister.com/blog/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-jesus-transfiguration August 8 - St. Dominic There are a lot of books and information out there about St. Dominic and how he founded the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). A wonderful day to pick up the rosary and pray a decade together as family. Why? Mother Mary asked St. Dominic to pray the rosary. Dive deeper and find out the tradition behind the habit that the Dominicans wear! Saint Dominic de Guzman’s gift to women – Catholic World Report Dominican Vocations | The Dominican Habit | Province of St. Martin de Porres August 9 - St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross/Edith Stein August 11 - St. Clare & Living Liturgical Event! Please join us to remember St. Clare’s devotion to the Eucharist by coming to St. Lambert’s Church for a Family Holy Hour. We start at 6:30 and will end at 7:30 with some playground time afterwards. St. Clare loved the Eucharist so much that she received a miracle of the Blessed Sacrament projected onto her wall when she was unable to attend Mass. She is the patron saint of television. Saint Clare of Assisi | Franciscan Media August 12 - St. Jane Frances de Chantal August 15 - The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (not a Holy Day of Obligation for 2022) August 19 - St. John Eudes August 20 - St. Bernard August 22 - Our Lady, Mother and Queen August 23 - St. Rose of Lima August 24 - St. Bartholomew August 27 - St. Monica Mother to St. Augustine and powerful intercessor for those who have fallen away from the faith! Especially children. Lean into St. Monica for your fallen away friends and family. August 28 - St. Augustine Incredible sinner to saint story and theologian for our Church. Please join us for the August Liturgical Event! Thursday, August 11th at 6:30-7:30PM at St. Lambert’s Church We will be praying in front of the Eucharistic Adoration for family hour.
